AMSTERDAM'S NEW NEW YEAR TRADITION
With a ban on consumer fireworks across the Netherlands, WINK had the perfect opportunity for a positive alternative to get people coming together to celebrate in a way that’s safer for people and the environment, friendlier, and more inclusive: Feelgood Amsterdam.
Feelgood Amsterdam is a collective connected by the Feelgood Vuurwerk mission: a foundation committed to raising awareness and money for the homeless by selling virtual fireworks.
For 2023 – to enhance the mission’s awareness and with a goal to become a new New Years tradition – we pulled together a true centralized, coordinated New Years spectacle with a tonne of the best production and show design talent in the country.
A LANDMARK FINALE TO 2022
Gazing up from almost anywhere in the city to the top of the landmark 100-meter tall, 22-storey A’DAM tower, the people of Amsterdam experienced an extraordinary 10-minute fireworks show.
600 different drones danced and in the night to the beat of a custom soundtrack and pyrotechnics, spelling out stories and symbols across an inspiring narrative. To prevent excess contamination and pollution, the fireworks were professional-grade and manufactured to the highest environmental standard.
Covered in almost every national newspaper in the Netherlands, seen by everyone in Amsterdam, and reaching millions online – the spectacle was a joint initiative of A'DAM Toren, WINK, Pyrofoor de Amsterdam, Drone Stories, 250K, Better Together Agency, The-X, and the Municipality of Amsterdam.
