Schiphol Airport
INTERIORDESIGN
New Dutch Horizons
Designed to flip the script. New Dutch Horizons is a unique kind of art installation–turning the stressful renovation of Schiphol Airport's Departure Lounge One into a calming experience with 200 meters of works from 19 Dutch artists.

EXPANDING HORIZONS AND INSPIRING PEACE
With Schiphol Airport working hard on renovating its Departure Lounge One as it builds the 'passenger experience of the future', they realized the extra stress all that noise and scaffolding causes travelers.
This problem inspired WINK to come up with New Dutch Horizons, a 200-meter-long art gallery with an endless horizons that covers up the renovation work. To fill it, 19 Dutch artists shared their vision of the natural and cultural landscapes of their homeland.
At the centre of each work, an infinite horizon connects the perspectives of the artists.

BY COVERING UP CONSTRUCTION
By acting as an interconnected, large-scale canvas for each work, the 200-meter-long installation obscures the construction zone and seamlessly guides visitors around it, making the whole of Departure Lounge One feel relaxing and easy to navigate.
Visitors are directed around New Dutch Horizons in parallel with a meditative audio tour that explains the artists' works in detail. They are encouraged to take a moment of pause and reflection by engaging with the concept behind each.

AND EXPLORING 19 UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES
Inspired by the point land and sky meet, a curated selection of top Dutch artists such as Kévin Bray, Satijn Panyigay, and Daan Couzijn captured a variety of unique perspectives through their photographs, paintings, video art, and collages.
Through the calming power of these artworks, New Dutch Horizons encourages visitors to pause and look beyond their own horizon. Giving them peace and new perspectives to take with them wherever they land.
